The RN Brand was founded by Dana Marie, a proud native of the 90043 zip code in South Los Angeles.
Dana Marie launched The RN Brand in 2020 as a bold challenge to stereotypes. RN stands for Real Nigga, a term long used in the Black community to validate authenticity and wisdom. Dana didn’t set out to water it down or apologize for it. Instead, she leaned all the way in. The RN Brand reclaims the term and redefines it as a badge of honor, rooted in cultural pride, shared struggle, and unapologetic Black identity. The RN brand represents Real Narratives, Real Nostalgia, Real Neighborhoods, and above all, Real Necessity.
Frustrated by how the world polices Black language and expression, Dana created the brand as both a form of resistance and a platform for truth. Through fashion, art, and storytelling, The RN Brand gives voice to the lived realities of Black folks who are tired of being filtered, edited, or explained.
The RN Brand isn’t just fashion, it’s a declaration. A commitment to authenticity. A love letter to South LA. And a call for Black creatives and communities everywhere to define themselves, on their own terms.

These values are at the heart of everything we do. Other phrases include: Real Nigga, Rich Nigga, Real Nugs, and Real Nice, to name a few.
